CT Election Regulators May Allow Digital Payments for Campaign Contributions (MSN)
“State election regulators are considering an expansion of the ways that campaign contributions can go to candidates by allowing supporters to use their digital wallets and payment platforms, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Amazon Pay.
During a recent meeting of the State Elections Enforcement Commission, members approved a month-long comment period to allow the public to consider the changes, which would require oversight to check the identity of contributors and avoid illegal straw payments made in the names of others.
The change would take effect for the 2026 statewide and General Assembly races. Congressional candidates are already allowed to accept contributions from digital platforms.”
